The needs are enormous, so we hope that you will be generous with your participation and efforts to collect pledges!

Tax Receipts will be issued for every donation you collect that is $20.00 or more. Please indicate on the pledge form whether you will need tax receipts.

TIPS ON FUNDRAISING

By using the mail to raise money, you can solicit contributors from a variety of resources, such as:

1. Business associates (rolodex files and E-mail)
2. Family, neighbors and old friends
3. College alumni and fraternity/sorority members

Whether drafting your own request to ask for donors for support or using the samples provided, keep these helpful hints in mind when beginning your letter campaign.

Don’t limit your list.

Start by making a list of everyone you know – work, home, school, old friends, etc. Then group them into categories to receive letters. The minute you limit who you ask, your fundraising potential stalls. The person who won’t contribute is the one you don’t ask.

Always include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Make it easy for a potential donor to respond.

Personalize your appeal.

Use familiar details about yourself. People will respond to your letter because they know you and respect your efforts. Also, remember who your audience is. Thank people for their support in past years, catch old friends up on news, etc.

Include a deadline.

A gentle “prod” to get the pledges in can be helpful.

Mention details about the run/walk.

Details can be printed from the website.

Follow up with a note or phone call to those who have not responded.

Sometimes it only takes a friendly reminder.

Always send a thank you note.

This can be done as soon as you receive a pledge in response to your letter or, better yet, after The Run for Rescue. With the second method, you can include details about the event and even photos of you doing THE RUN FOR RESCUE. Donors will be curious about your experience and the event’s success.
